Gold Making in WoW - Is It Really Easy?

I've been playing RPG games for years, both offline and online. In my 20+ year experience I have not yet come across a more detailed and deep experience in gameplay as what I have seen in World of Warcraft.

Of course, in any game, you need money to buy the things you want to make yourself more powerful, stronger, faster, etc. Whether those items are armor, mounts, better weapons or any other thing. Let's also not forget the training aspect of WoW so that you can level your character. In short, you are stuck if you don't have enough gold.

If you have played World of Warcraft for any length of time you have seen that there is a very detailed monetary system and that it has certain rules. Now, of course, Blizzard (TM) has set it up so that most average players may get frustrated and if they want more WoW gold they can buy it with real money. I say average players because a good player that knows what they are doing can avoid this completely and still continue leveling his or her character without resorting to grinding at all. It just takes a disciplined, planned, systematic approach every day.

First, let me start with some simple concepts.

You need bags. The more bags you have, the more you are able to carry. The more you are able to carry, the more you can sell later on for more gold. I think that is basic common sense. So try to get as many bags as you can get your hands on early in the game. I'm not sure why, but all the materials for making bags are expensive (perhaps by design) so finding the materials and making bags can also be an expensive proposition. Too bad they haven't discovered canvas in the World of Warcraft.

Next concept is about professions. Skinning is one profession that I recommend simply because it easily works in with what you will be doing at one time or another which is killing monsters. You can kill a monster and take the skin then sell it off later. Also, Mining is a good profession to have since a lot of dungeons are located in or near mines. Once you are done with the quest you can return to the mine location and extract whatever minerals there are in the area.

OK, the simple and basic parts out of the way, let's get to the part that really makes you money- the Auction House.

I like to think of the Auction House very much more like a real world stock market- or more accurately a commodities market. I've actually made real money in the commodities markets with silver and this strategy works similarly. The good thing in this is that prices in WoW fluctuate a lot more and a lot faster than they do in the real world.

The key to all of this is getting a UI add-on called Auctioneer. Once you have added the add-on go to the nearest big city and head to the Auction House. When you go inside click on an Auctioneer and then Scan. This takes a little while, but it will show you every Auction up for sale, which is a handy bit of information (wish the stock and commodities markets were this easy).

Now go to the Browse Auction tab and you will then be able to see items you can Buyout and make at least a one gold profit on them.

I recommend searching the items and ordering them by sale price lowest to highest at first.

Once you have done that you can probably find a minimum of ten items that can be bought and resold for at least a 1 gold profit. Pretty cool!

This isn't going to make you rich overnight, but if you consistently allot about 20-30 minutes a day to doing this will find yourself with much more gold in much less time than you would by grinding. The key is consistency and patience.

In summary, making money in WoW actually is pretty easy as long as you follow a disciplined and systematic approach. Starting off with the right mindset and following a plan every day will get you the best results from your playing efforts. Soon you will be making lots of gold every day in a very short time period, you won't have to worry about paying more of your money out of your own pocket, and you can enjoy the many great quests and challenges in the game instead of grinding.
